Oh, Austin, you are the capital of all things cool, not to
mention, the Capital of Texas! This new for Fall 2009 tee just has three
words: AUSTIN SOUNDS GOOD -- with a picture of a banjo forming parts of the
words. We think these three words sum it all up! Austin, the live
music capital of the world as well, the jewel of Texas Hill Country, and "the
most livable city in Texas" - we bow to thee! This tshirt is available for
women and men, and makes a perfect Austin souvenir if you're a visitor, and a
great way to start a conversation if you're an (Austinite? Austintonian?
Austiner?) traveling out of town.
According to Chris:
As of this writing, I have spent exactly 15 hours
in Austin, but it made a big impression on me. It was Friday, April 24,
1998** that I arrived by car with 2 girls I worked with and had gone on an out
of town conference to Dallas with. We decided to drive down to Austin --
we stopped at a Dairy Queen in Waco for some Steak Fingers, I remember -- and
pulled into town and went out on Sixth Street and took it all in, then crashed
at one of her cousin's friend's house or something -- I flew home the next
morning (and I seem to remember, it was still "the old airport" at the time) --
anyway, we had a great time, and I got a great sense of everything the town was
all about. Also, my friends Fiala and Goze (pix of them may appear later)
always used to rave and rave about how great Austin was and how
SXSW totally rocked - sorry to say I haven't made
it there yet. My friend Pam really loves it there too. Anyway, I will cede the
floor here in a sec, but I really can't wait to make it back to Austin, and I'll
be sure to wear this t-shirt when I go. And, to Wayne and Kelly, I still
liked the original idea I had for the shirt filled with bats that just said
AUSTIN - STAY BATTY! - but I think this one is a little better. Maybe we'll do
the batty thing later. And a tip of the cap to the "Keep Austin Weird" and
"Make Austin Normal" folks... hope you can make room for a carpetbagger like
myself to join the fray. And Matthew McConaughey, if you are reading this,
call me and I will send you one of these shirts to wear under a rugged, rumpled
blazer the next time you're on The Tonight Show - deal?
**I remember the
day from watching
this
first Bulls Playoff Game of the year from an outdoor bar somewhere in
Austin. I miss you, Michael Jordan.
