Delaware - Keep it on the D E L. This T-Shirt is perfect if you are
from Delaware, you love Delaware, or you just want a cool tee that show you're
down with America's 2nd Smallest State. Sure, it's only 110 Miles from
Brandywine to Bethany Beach, but the state of DEL packs so much goodness into
such a small space. And if you really love driving 400 miles between
cities, you can always head to Texas or Montana or Wyoming.
According to Chris:
I've driven through Delaware a number of times, and a summer
in College, made 3 or 4 weekend trips to Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach when I
was working in Washington. Let me first say, Delaware has FANTASTIC
beaches, and even being from Florida, I was very impressed. Clean, wide, great
sand, great surf, totally loved it. Me and my friend Tom would drive
across the Chesapeake on US50, wind our way through the small towns like
Bridgeville and Georgetown, DE, and then crash at his friend's beach house a
couple of blocks from the Reho boardwalk. Good times. (We have a
seasonally-available Dewey Beach Girl tee if you are interested)
On another trip, I took the Ferry from Lewes to Cape May, NJ,
at sunset in the summer, and it was an amazing ride. If you're driving up
the East Coast, I highly recommend you try this route at least once. It's
a world apart from I-95 -- but I must say -- the Delaware Memorial Bridge is one
of my favorite all-time bridges in the world. Crossing where the river is
really wide and about to turn into Delaware Bay, it's the last crossing of the
Delaware River, and the twin towers of the bridges are really dramatic, like
you're crossing into another world. And it seems like every road on the
Eastern Seaboard is funneling into or out of that Bridge - 95, 295, 495, 40, 13,
130, 896. Pretty cool. Strangely, as of 2009, I have not been back
into Delaware in a long time, and I actually have NEVER met anyone from
Delaware. If you're out there, write me and say hi! Someday soon I'm
going to spend more time and check it all out. In the meantime, I'm
proudly wearing my KEEP IT ON THE D-E-L Delaware TShirt, and it never fails to
get a laugh.
